I saw a girl looking out of her window as I looked out of mine. An idea was born, one I shared with Bharat Dabolkar, the dramatist and playwright. I was looking for direction and he put me on the right path.

How did theatre come about? Just like perhaps every avid theatregoer, with a desire, to make a play. A desire to express.

That's how I wrote my first play, "I Have Gone Marking". I read it out to Sumonto Chattopadhyay, Executive Creative Director, South East Asia, of O&M, to check out if it sounded okay. Some more inputs and encouragement later, he played the hero in the play! That was the beginning of my theatre group Kali, under whose banner I have done several plays.
